Dr. Alvarez is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon specializing in all spinal care — including cervical, thoracic, lumbar and lumbopelvic pathology — ranging from simple disc herniations to spinal deformity. He treats each patient like family and firmly believes patients should have a say in their treatment. He will give an honest opinion for each case and discuss all treatments, including non-operative and operative care, to improve each patient’s life.

Dr. Alvarez received his medical degree from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, completed his orthopedic surgical residency at the University of California, Irvine, and finished a fellowship in spine surgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital with Dr. Frank Eismont. During his time in medical school, he served as president of the American Medical Association at Northwestern, participating in local and national medical advocacy.

Dr. Alvarez has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and has presented his research around the country. He is active in the national spine care community, attending conferences and labs to bring the most current treatments to his patients.

Dr. Alvarez has a special connection to Central Florida. He was born and raised in Florida, and most of his family still resides in Orlando. Growing up, he spent summers with his grandparents and cousins and grew to love the area. After training across the country, he is thrilled to return and serve our Central Florida community.

Additionally, Dr. Alvarez is proficient in Spanish.
